Merrimack County - General Information

WHAT'S AVAILABLE: PLANS:
Merrimack County was Incorporated in 1823. Some of the records date back before that time and some records are located in other Counties previous to 1823. A Plan index is available dating back to 1823 up to present day. All plans are given a Plan number which is sequential in the order that they were recorded.
All of the records are indexed as Grantor and Grantee. Grantors include Sellers, Debtors, Assignors and Mortgagors. Grantees include Buyers, Assignees and Mortgagees. Plans are listed under the owners names, Development name, Subdivision or Condo name and in some cases, abutters names are listed.
Index books containing Grantor and Grantee records listed alphabetically and by year, are located in the Records Room. Many of these same indexes are available on the computer system, depending on the time frame that you are looking for. Plans are available for viewing on the computer system. If copies of plans are requested, you can print a smaller version from the computer or you can request a full scale print from the copy center. We also have plan aperture cards located in the filing cabinet labeled as Plan File. Pull the card out after locating the number that you want and use the plan readers to view the plan.
The computer terminals, located in the records room and in the main office, contain index information and images from *1920 Grantor only and from approx. *1955 for the Grantee records, up to current day. You have many options for searching, by name, volume and page, plan number, document type and location. * We continue to backtrack and capture older information on our computer system so these dates are subject to change. Some of the original volumes containing the documents are available in the Records Room. If a volume is not available and cannot be read by using the microfilm or the computer terminals, we will make every effort to make the original document available for viewing.
You can use the print option to make copies of documents as you work on these terminals. The print manager keeps a log of all copies that you have ordered during your session, you can edit these choices before sending them to the printer. The copies will be available to you after you submit your print request to the printer. SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS:
